Scorpions

Scorpions may be one of the most dangerous creatures found in the Las Vegas area. Scorpions are native to desert regions and we do have our fair share of them here. These pests can live up to 25 years. They are mainly nocturnal though if they move around during the day they will seek shelter in the relative cool of underground holes or undersides of rocks.

Scorpions are able to adapt to their environment and can survive 6 to 12 months without eating. When scorpions reproduce they can have over 100 young at a time. In the Las Vegas area scorpions can range in size and color from beige to black. Typically scorpions will not attack humans but they will sting you if you happen to disturb their hiding place. It is very common for scorpions to hide in shoes or blankets. If your shoes are ever left outside or in your garage, make sure a scorpion hasn’t taken refuge inside.
